IS SALTY SISTERS ONLY FOR WOMEN?
Yes- every Salty Sisters retreat is a women-only trip, from the coaching to the accommodation to the group itself. It's a space built specifically for women to surf, connect and travel together, without having to think twice about it.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN A SALTY SISTERS RETREAT?
Every retreat includes accommodation, small-group coaching with ISA-certified instructors, meals, and a full programme of activities alongside your surfing. Exact inclusions vary slightly by destination, but the standard- proper coaching, proper care, proper company- never does.
DO I NEED TO HAVE SURFED BEFORE?
Not at all. Our retreats welcome everyone from complete beginners to more experienced surfers, with small groups and coaching adapted to you. Whether you're catching your first green wave or working on your turns, you'll be supported at your own pace, with no competitive pressure.
DO YOU PROVIDE SURF EQUIPMENT?
Yes, surfboards and wetsuits are provided as part of every retreat. If you'd rather use your own board, you're welcome to bring it.
WHAT'S A TYPICAL DAY LIKE ON A SALTY SISTERS RETREAT?
Days are built around your surf coaching, with time for breakfast, sessions in the water, downtime to recover, and a full programme of activities and group time worked in around the surfing- the exact rhythm depends on your destination, but every day is genuinely built around the group.
CAN I COME ALONE, OR DO I NEED TO BRING FRIENDS?
Most of our Salty Sisters come solo- that's the whole point. You'll be joining a small group of women who are usually strangers on day one and friends for life by the end of the week, so there's no need to arrive knowing anyone. Of course, you're just as welcome to bring your own group along too.
WHAT'S THE ACCOMMODATION LIKE?
Accommodation varies by destination, from beach bungalows to boat cabins, but every option is comfortable, genuinely cared for, and built around bringing the group together- whether that's a shared pool, a communal dining area, or simply everyone ending up in the same spot by sunset.
CAN A SALTY SISTERS RETREAT DOUBLE AS MY SURF INSTRUCTOR COURSE?
On most of our retreats, yes- you can choose to add on our ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor Course alongside your week away, turning your retreat into an internationally recognised qualification. It's entirely optional: some destinations are retreat-only, so check the specific destination page to see what's on offer, and come away with exactly the week you were after, whether that's pure relaxation and progression, or a genuine new qualification too.
Meals are included as part of every retreat package, with the exact plan- full board, breakfast only, or something in between- varying slightly by destination. You'll find the specific details on each retreat's page.
IS TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED?
Travel insurance isn't required to book, but we strongly recommend it for every Salty Sisters trip, along with checking you have the right visa for your destination. It's the best way to protect yourself and enjoy your week with total peace of mind.
