Not just a retreat..
Salty Sisters Fuerteventura is based in Lajares, a creative, easy-going village on the island's North Shore, with the extinct Calderón Hondo volcano rising up behind it and some of the Canaries' most consistent waves just minutes away.
It's the same Salty Sisters ethos wherever we run this retreat: a genuinely supportive group, no competitive edge, and coaching that meets you exactly where you are- whether that's your first time standing up or your hundredth session chasing a cleaner turn.

Bring a friend or come by yourself — you’ll find no shortage of company here, from fellow guests cheering from the shoulder to a team that’s genuinely invested in your progress.
Days are shaped around surf, three weekly yoga sessions by the pool, and a guided trek up to the Calderón Hondo crater, with breakfast and homemade dinners keeping everyone fed and together.
Home base is a surf lodge tucked into Lajares itself, with a pool, a garden full of palms and an easy walk to the village’s cafés and surf shops- close enough to wander into town, far enough to properly switch off. And if a week of surfing and sunshine isn’t quite enough, this retreat also doubles as your ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor Course- the choice is yours.

The Area And Surf Spots
The North Shore around Lajares is dense with well-regarded breaks, close enough together that a short drive can put you in front of a completely different wave to the one you surfed that morning- useful whatever your level.
Lajares itself keeps you busy off the water too, with its surf shops, art studios and easy café culture, while El Cotillo and Corralejo are both within easy reach for a change of scene.

ISA Surf Instructor Course
Run over 2 days alongside your retreat, the course covers everything you need to safely teach beginner and early intermediate surfers- from instructor safety and equipment to coaching methods, skill progression and programme planning- combining practical time in the water with structured theory sessions.
The ISA Level 1 is the global industry standard for surf instructors and opens the door to coaching work at surf schools worldwide. Whether you're a gap-year traveller, a career-changer or simply want to formalise years of experience in the water, you'll finish the course ready to teach- guided by a woman who's built her own career doing exactly that.

Basic info summary
ACCOMMODATION (summary)
A relaxed lodge in the middle of Lajares village, with private and shared room options built around a sheltered pool and a garden full of palms.
MEALS
Breakfast is a proper spread each morning- fresh bread, cheese and cured meats, jam, fruit and muesli, with coffee and tea, and vegetarian and vegan options always on the table.
Five evenings a week, the whole group sits down to a homemade dinner together, BBQ night included- good food and good company, with none of the effort landing on you.
SURF LESSONS
Every session is built around you- your confidence, your goals and the conditions on the day, not a fixed script everyone follows regardless of ability.
New to surfing? You’ll spend your time on pop-ups, balance and reading the whitewash. Already comfortable in the water? Expect more focus on positioning, timing and picking the right wave, with instructors adjusting the plan around the group rather than the other way round.
And for anyone wanting more than a great week of surfing, this retreat can be combined with our ISA Level 1 Surf Instructor Course- entirely optional, entirely up to you.
SURF EQUIPMENT
Board and wetsuit hire can be built into your package, sized and matched to you before you even land.
CAMP ACTIVITIES
Yoga runs three times a week by the pool, timed so it never eats into surf time- just movement, breath and a bit of stretching out sore shoulders.
Once a week, the group heads out together on a guided trek up to Calderón Hondo, Fuerteventura’s best-preserved extinct volcano- a proper change of pace from the water, and one of the best views on the island.
Outside of the planned activities, the pool and garden are where everyone tends to end up- plenty of space to talk, laze about, or just sit with your own thoughts for a while.
