Indonesia is the ultimate surf playground: a huge chain of islands where warm water, consistent Indian Ocean swell, and reef-crafted lines come together to create everything from mellow waves to proper, world-class barrels. Bali is the famous hub for good reason, variety, accessibility, and year-round options, especially around the Bukit Peninsula and Canggu. In the dry season (roughly April to October), the west coast lights up with cleaner winds and more consistent swell;  When the seasons shift (November to March), the east coast spots can take over and keep the trip firing.
This page brings together our favourite surf camps, resorts, and charter experiences across Surf Travel Indonesia—from the energy and convenience of Canggu, to the iconic reefs of Uluwatu and Padang Padang, plus quieter gems like Green Bowl.
If you’re chasing something more remote, we’ll point you toward the adventure of Sumba, and the all-time dream setups in the Mentawai including Mentawai Surf Resort & Boat Charters and Mentawai Kandui Islands Resort. And for anyone who wants a true “surf trip” feel, Java and G-Land deliver that classic rhythm: tides, long walls, and days built around the

Bukit Peninsula or Mentawai, the ultimate surf playground.

When to visit Indonesia

You can surf Indonesia year-round, the island just switches moods. It basically has two seasons: Dry Season and Rainy Season.

The dry season (roughly April to October) is the classic. More consistent swell and cleaner conditions, especially on the west-facing breaks along the sout coast.

When the rainy season rolls in (roughly November to March), the winds flip, the crowds thin out, and the east coast can light up with fun, cleaner options – plus you often get more variety day to day if you are willing to chase conditions.
